Christy will be sportin' a new look this season (and we were just getting used to looking for her silver Giro areo helmet). Today, Christy was named to the 2011 Bonzai Elite Tri Team, joining a short list of top age groupers from the D.C. area.
Bonzai Sports was one of the first specialty triathlon shops in the country when it opened its doors in 1990. Since then, it has grown with the sport of triathlon and earlier this week was awarded "Top U.S. Triathlon Retailer 2010" by Triathlon America, a coalition of industry leaders dedicated to promoting the sport and the business of triathlon.
I've been a big fan of Bonzai since I bought my Felt B2 in September 2009. I walked in to buy a Quintana Roo they had special ordered for me, but after an initial bike fit Bonzai determined it wasn't optimum for my body mechanics and riding style. I left with the Felt, and three weeks later posted my fastest bike split at the inaugural Ironman 70.3 Augusta, finishing second in my age group and securing a spot to the 2009 Foster Grant Ironman World Championship 70.3.
Christy will be reppin' Bonzai at the REV3 Quassy HALFREV 70.3 in Middlebury, CT on June 5, the USA Triathlon Age Group National Championship in Burlington, VT on August 20, the SavageMan 70.0 in Deep Creek Lake, MD on September 18, and the ITU Long Course Triathlon World Championship in Henderson, NV November 5.
Bonzai is located just inside the Capital Beltway at 2822 Fallfax Drive, Falls Church, VA, and on the interwebs at http://tribonzai.com/.
