We're super excited to be hosting the Mid-Atlantic's USA Triathlon Skills Camp – one of only seven designated camps in the country – this July at McDaniel College in Westminster, MD. Designed for the novice to intermediate level 12–17 year-old triathlete and taught exclusively by USA Triathlon Certified Coaches, our three-day two-night Skills Camp will focus on the fundamentals within triathlon's four disciplines: swimming, biking, running, and transition.
ABOUT USA TRIATHLON SKILLS CAMPS
Granted designation by USA Triathlon, the National Governing Body of multisport, USA Triathlon Skills Camps are designed with the novice to intermediate level 12–17 year-old triathlete in mind. These camps focus on the fundamentals of triathlon's four disciplines: swimming, biking, running, and transition. In the pool, triathletes will work on swim stroke fundamentals, starts, buoy turns, navigation, and simulated open water swimming. On the bike, triathletes will practice cornering, climbing, descending, and braking skills and be introduced to pack riding and entry-level, draft-legal racing skills. Run drills will focus on dynamic warm-ups, proper form, and transition runs. Significant focus will be placed on mastering ITU-style flow through transitions with flying mounts and dismounts. Triathletes will also learn about sports nutrition and how to structure their training, and USA Triathlon Certified Youth and Junior Coaches will discuss how to keep triathlon in balance with school sports. Triathletes will benefit from working with coaches having specific youth triathlon education, training and certification while learning alongside peers who share their interest in the sport of triathlon.
